  2. The K-8 elementary intervention team met to discuss 4 key elements:
    1. Our goal for the year
    2. Our process of work thus far
    3. Our year end goals
    4. The strengths/areas for improvement within our system
    1. The main goal has been to effectively implement the STAR assessment and use the data to guide instruction.
    2. Our process has included utilizing data to create reading and math intervention classes (K-8) and implementing in-class support (K-6). Also included in our process is the continuous reviewing of data so as to have better monitoring of our student achievement.
    3. Our year end goal is to have a base idea of next year’s goals and schedule for support services.

  3. Grading Practices had a very successful day. We formatted our Life Skills Rubric, clarified and defined: terminology, proficiency statements, roll out plan, and formatted a content standard rubric. Yay us!

Additionally, pending Board approval of the roll out plan, the Grading Practices HPT will be requesting professional development time during the 2013-2014 school year for middle staff for successful implementation of the Standards Based Grading System.

  4. The high school RTI team had a great day; both productive and fun! The "Cliff Hanger" was created with much enthusiasm - stay tuned for the roll-out today at our staff meeting. Also, math and reading pathways for the RTI identification process were created with the goal that we'll have a one-page workable document for staff, students and parents. We collaborated with the K-8 Title team to be sure we were all using the same benchmark of 50th percentile rank in STAR - now we all know it's been set district-wide. Finally, we reviewed the Top Tasks for Implementing RTI to identify work not yet begun, work toward goal has begun, progress been made or goal has been accomplished. From this, we have identified specific tasks we need to address.

  5. This morning the high school tech team went through our original goals and figured out where we were on our plan for the year. We discussed our accomplishments made so far and future goals (for both the remainder of this year and next).

We had planned all year to meet and work on creating classroom websites, and having enough time today to get started we began working on our individual sites. We also decided to create a group site to use for our board presentation on May 22nd instead of using a traditional powerpoint. This website can be used and edited by all members, and will explain our personal goals for technology and will be a place we can showcase accomplishments of our tech goals.

  6. HS MBI Team completed the designs for the HS parking lot signs, just waiting on the approval to order them.

    - Considering a re-design of the classroom MBI universal poster. Looking at implementing a pennant look instead of the poster.

    - Discussing the HS MBI matrix, and how it will look, and whether to include the entire HS Staff in completion of the matrix.

    - Preparing for the board presentation.

    - Looking forward to a more complete roll-out of MBI next year.

  7. Sarah Taylor FINE ARTS HPT

FIne Arts Team is organizing a school-wide Empty Bowls event complete with community members' contributions, music, language and a soup dinner. K-12 will be creating bowls (or spoons K-3) that will benefit the local food pantry, and help generate awareness in our community. Our goal is to fulfill the district's desire to involve and engage the community through an event at our school. Stay tuned for details on this upcoming event, as it will entail a whole-school involvement, and all teachers' support. There is even a rumor of a PIR session in hand (and wheel!) building pottery so that you can help your students in their quest for excellence.

  11. We had some trouble with the website Feb. 15, most likely user errors, but all seems to be okay now. The Elementary/Middle School Special Education team spent the day going to over 30 businesses in the town of Bigfork, informing and gathering interest levels of our higher needs kids being involved in their businesses. The community, for the most part, received the ideas with enthusiasm and were interested in being involved. We also spent some time working on community integrated Life Skills for the year that include academic expectations, needs, pre-teaching skills, daily living skills and executive functioning skills. Finally, we also present March 6th, and figured out what that was going to entail.

  13. 4th and 5th grade team has been working on our goals for the year. We planned out our strategies for valuable Buddy time to be happening March 28th. We will be coordinating and expecting the students to conduct a Destination imagination Challenge with their buddies. We will have parent volunteers to be the judges and students will rotate through 3 stations. For the other part of the time we worked on layout for report cards and how to make them reflective of the common core. This will be a process that we expect to take us the rest of the school year to complete.
