RECAP(read below for full report of meeting):  Report/Comment/Signup on the blog. Forum meets once a month.  One rep from each team needs to be involved with the Forum. Fulfill your 2012-2013 PIR and help come up with ideas for PIR for next year. Feb 15th is a HPT work-day with your teams. CRISS canceled. Kindergarten concerned about new benchmarks.  Anyone who reads this ask me for a piece candy!!!!

Reporting:  contact Scarlett to learn how to comment/report your teams good news and meeting notes.
Attendance: One rep from each team is supposed to attend the monthly FORUM meeting.  There are quite a lot of frustrations from the same people who attend.  Where are all the other reps?! However, it was suggested in the future it might be notated in teacher evaluations: the lack of attendance because it is outlined in our contract; page 14, section 3. Brenda Clarke noted …..coming from a different school, this is a great voice for teachers and not offered at other schools.  [the staff] should really embrace it.
Board Meeting Presentations:  still have a couple of teams that need to sign up.
2/3 Team
Elem/Mid MBI Team
Wellness Team
Industrial Arts Team
Forum Meeting Dates:  1 member from each team will meet in Clara Clark’s room the last Wed of each month for the rest of the year.

PIR:  you need 42 credits of PIR each year.  Log on to check your credits and sign up for classes.  http://kalnet.io-solutions.com/pir/
Also, let’s plan for next year.  Do we have any PIR ideas to coincide with the common core?
Feb 15th:  This will be an all-day HPT day for teams to continue to work on the projects their group has been working on all year.  A.  Bessen is excited for her team to work out the details on grading practices.  T. Swope’s team is going to get out into the community once their brochure has been approved and build upon their community service ideas/project.  St. Taylor’s team has since changed their focus after getting some of their earlier goals accomplished, like iPad training.
CRISS training:  At this time, it DOES NOT look like we will be having a 2ND round of CRISS training due to an overwhelming amount of feedback provided by the staff.
New Topic of Discussion:  K1 Team has some concerns about Kindergarten.  According to J. Smiley, the problem is two-fold: many of these 5-year-old students have not had preschool and the benchmarks at the kindergarten level have doubled.  She believes kindergarten should be “the Hook” of school and with young unprepared students not having success right from the start, these students might simply continue to struggle.  She believes setting and strictly sticking to certain age, maturity and competency requirements is also very important.   Some solutions to consider: should BF Schools offer a pre-k class to those students who haven’t had preschool? Should some research be done looking for grants or funding for preschool?

DISCUSS:  Cutting down face-to-face meeting time with the BLOG!
This is where we will post "Good News" and other "Meeting Notes".  Each team needs to have one representative that will post. Sarah Taylor and I taught how to "Create an Account" and "Post" to the blog.  The blog was started in 2009 and its named derived from teacher Greg Moul,

ASSIGNMENT:  Upload “Notes & Good News” after every HPT meeting.  Due by the following Friday.  For example, January 18th meeting “Notes and Good News” due by January 25th.
Post “Notes and Good News” under heading labeled HPT Meeting January 18th.

***On a personal note, don’t get worked up over how to post to the blog.  It’s super easy and just send me a line that you need help :)

Reminder Forum Meeting, December 19, 2012

Good Morning! Reminder for forum meeting tomorrow. We are going to try to lessen the in-person meeting time with listing the 'good news, team reports, PIR requests, etc.' on the blog site. To facilitate this process, please bring a laptop or such device with internet access to learn how to post. A member of your HPT must be here. Under discussion: Provide an up-to-date list of HPT members. When to upload information following HPT meeting? Who within your team will be responsible for the task? Should everyone be authors, or just those responsible for reporting? Other queries or suggestions? Thanks. See you soon. Merry Christmas! Happy New Year! Clara

Grading Practices Team Notes, December 7, 2012

During our HPT meeting today we created our Roll Out Plan. Additionally, we planned for our next few HPT meetings. On January 18th we will be creating the strands that will make the life skills standards. February 15th and March 8th we will be creating rubrics to accompany the strands to ensure consistent grading. April 19th we will formate our core standards and the life skills standards. While this is our tentative plan, we all agree that we would prefer quality over the timeline. These are goals for the meetings, but we know it may take longer to develop the formate and standards. Roll Out Plan 2012-2013 Trimester 2 Completion of the Life-Skills Standards and Rubrics Trimester 3 Inform shared faculty and noncore faculty members of Life-Skills Rubric and timeline of implementation of curriculum standards Informative meeting/open house before PTA Carnival to give parents a heads up 2013-2014 Trimester 1 Grading with Citizenship Standards Letter Grading Parent Meeting Trimester 2 Letter Grading Citizenship Grades and Curriculum Standards Grades Trimester 3 Pilot New Standards Based Grading System 22014-2015 Implementation of New Standards Based Grading System.
